Grapefruit & Ginger Kefir Lassi

A refreshing boost to your digestive system first thing in the morning, a big glass of this frothy Lassi is definitely something to add to your Summer recipe repertoire.

Using just a few ingredients that pack a massive punch of flavour, this is incredibly straightforward and ideal for anyone who’s stuck for time in the morning!

The difference between a Lassi and a Smoothie, is that in Lassi’s, the yoghurt (Kefir used here) takes a leading role. Hence why there’s notably more Kefir than grapefruit!

Kefir is a  fermented milk product, more strong in flavour than traditional yoghurt which boasts benefits such as supporting a healthy gut and digestive system.

Makes a 375ml serving


  • 150ml kefir (or plain yoghurt as an alternative)
  • 75g ice
  • 1/4 thumb size ginger
  • 1/2 red grapefruit
  • 1 tsp honey


Add the kefir and ice to a strong blender. Put it on a high speed until it’s nice and frothy.

Cut the grapefruit flesh into segments and mince the ginger. Add these to the blender along with the honey and whizz until you achieve a silky smooth consistency with a foam on the top!
